The instant of metamorphosis signifies a radical change of a body. Simultaneously it implies its continuity. Metamorphosis also presupposes the immanent plasticity or transformability of the body. This ambiguity constitutes a challenge both to its philosophical conceptualisations and to its visual representations. The article explores the motif of metamorphosis on a conceptual level as an important aspect of image-making.
